This week’s Michigan Lottery Excellence in Education winner is Kelly Herberholz with Dakota High School, which is in Macomb.
Q: Tell us about what you do as a student advisor for the government, right?
A: Yes, for student government. I’m basically there to advise and guide our student leaders. I work with about 75 student leaders. Our goal is basically to create a positive school environment at Dakota to help them plan events for their peers that they can have more connection to our school, and they can have fun because school should be fun, it should be engaging and it should foster that sense of community.
Kelly, from Dakota High School, receives a $2,000 check from Lottery Commissioner Suzanna Shkreli.
Excellence in Education Awards, sponsored by the Michigan Lottery, providing more than $28 billion to public education since 1972.
