Traverse City community advocate and Salvation Army director Ruth Blick has died

TRAVERSE CITY - A longtime community advocate in Traverse City has died.

Ruth Blick worked at the Salvation Army for the past 10 years as the director of community resource development.

She was often the face of many community programs, such as the Red Kettle Campaign, Christmas in July, the holiday meals and toy drive, and the Teen Angel program.

Before joining the Salvation Army, Blick worked for Goodwill for more than 17 years.

Blick died suddenly over the weekend.

Funeral arrangements have not been announced.
