Preps for Early In Person Voting in Northern Michigan

County clerks in Northern Michigan are getting ready for early in-person voting for the upcoming November election.

In Roscommon County, county clerk Michelle Stevenson said people can vote early starting October 26th.

That gives people 9 extra days prior to Election Day.

She said there are seven early voting sites in the county that are being run by the local township clerks.

Stevenson says early voting can help eliminate wait times on November 5th.

More than 500 voters in the county took part in early voting during the August primary.

She also said there is a new rule absentee voters might want to take advantage of when it comes to the early in person voting process.

“One of the new things that voters had passed in 2022 is that now, with this whole process, if anybody votes by absentee ballot. They can also bring in their AB ballot and they can be tabulated at the time. So, they could be tabulated during early voting. They could tabulate it on Election Day, which wasn’t the case prior to this year.

Stevenson said in order to vote early, you must bring in a photo ID, just like on Election Day.

She also said hours can vary from site to site, so it’s a good idea to check the hours at your nearest polling location.
