Applications open for new Charlevoix, Antrim County Materials Management Planning Committee

At the beginning of 2024, the State of Michigan called for an update to County Materials Management Plans, formerly known as Solid Waste Plans.

Current Solid Waste Plans focus on disposal capacities, while the updated Materials Management Plans will focus on sustainable materials management such as recycling and composting, instead of primarily disposal.

The committees will be developing with assistance from Networks Northwest.

The new MMPCs will be composed of eleven members who are involved with materials management or elected officials in Antrim and Charlevoix counties for the two committees.

MMPC meetings will be open to the public, follow the Open Meetings Act, and may be recorded for notekeeping and review.

The Antrim County and Charlevoix Board of Commissioners will have approval of the committee membership and the Materials Management Plan.
