GAYLORD -- Michigan State Police are trading in their badges and guns Wednesday for aprons to help to keep kids warm this winter.
State Police in Gaylord are hosting their 3rd annual ‘Boots for Kids’ fundraiser. It started at 11 in the morning and goes until 10 p.m.
Troopers are in the kitchen of BC Pizza, spinning the dough and piling on the toppings, in order to raise funds to buy winter clothing and boots for kids in need in the Otsego County area.
Sergeant Ashley Miller with the Gaylord State Police post said it’s one of their favorite fundraisers of the year and are grateful to team with BC Pizza for it.
“We feel that we’re put in a position to help people, not only just, you know, responding to calls, enforcing traffic laws, but we are able to to help people in these ways. And, you know, we have children of our own. We see firsthand the struggle of some of the people in our community. And we want to be able to help,” said Miller.
Miller said 100 % of the proceeds go to benefit the ‘Boots for Kids’.
