Presque Isle Co. caregiver accused of doing drugs, shooting guns around 4-year-old

On Thursday, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services contacted the Presque Isle Sheriff’s Office for help investigating a caregiver, Brian Edward Vannoller.

A deputy responded to the home in Ocqueoc Township where they said Vannoller had reportedly shot a gun while intoxicated and left it out around his foster four-year-old child.

Deputies found out that Vannoller was a convicted felon and got a search warrant for the home. MDHHS also requested they remove the child from his care.

The Sheriff’s Office said Vannoller resisted arrest and had to be tased. Deputies seized several firearms and what they suspected was cocaine. They said Vannoller later confessed to taking cocaine before deputies arrived.

He’s being held on charges of kidnapping, firearm possession by a felon, cocaine possession, resisting arrest and habitual offender – 4th offense.

Deputies said the foster child was turned over to MDHHS. The investigation is ongoing.
