Military vehicle rollover crash sends 2 people to the hospital

On Sept. 14, Richfield Township Department of Public Safety responded to a military vehicle rollover accident on I-75.

Rescue personnel said the large vehicle had left the road and rolled over. The vehicle was carrying military equipment and two military personnel.

The passenger was able to get out, but the driver was trapped inside. Once the driver was removed from the vehicle, one person was flown to the hospital and another was taken there via ambulance. Rescue personnel did not specify whether the passenger or driver was flown out.

I-75 northbound was shut down during the rescue to prepare a secure landing zone.

Michigan State Police, Roscommon County Sheriff’s Office, Flightcare, Roscommon County Road Commission, Ogemaw County Sheriff’s Office, Denton Township EMS,  Maple Valley Towing and the United States Army all aided in the response.
