Harley driver killed after semi fails to stop at stop sign, Antrim Co. deputies say

ANTRIM COUNTY - On Sept. 23 at 12:29 p.m., the Antrim County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle fatal traffic crash on Alden Highway at Bailey Road in Custer Township.

A 54-year-old Mancelona man was traveling east on Alden Highway on his 1999 Harley Davidson motorcycle when the Harley struck the side of a southbound semi-truck trailer that was being driven by a 61-year-old Wyoming, Michigan, man, deputies said.

Officials said the semi-truck failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of Bailey Road and Alden Highway and drove into the path of the motorcycle. The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a helmet, deputies said.
