Antrim Co. fugitive caught in North Carolina

ANTRIM COUNTY - A Mancelona man wanted on drug and other charges was captured in North Carolina, the Antrim County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday.

Lloyd Swadling, 59, of Mancelona has already been extradited to Antrim County from Macon County, North Carolina, officials said.

Swadling was arrested in Mancelona by the Antrim County Sheriffs Office on Feb. 1, 2024, at his home in Mancelona during a drug search warrant. Swadling was charged with felon in possession of ammunition, maintaining a drug house, delivery/manufacture of ecstasy or MDMA, and possession of analogues, deputies said.

Swadling was released from jail after posting bond but then fled the area, deputies said.

Swadling later was located in North Carolina, where he was arrested and remained in jail until the formal extradition process was completed, deputies said. He was returned to Antrim County Jail on Sept. 6.

He was arraigned in the 86th District Court on Sept. 10.
