On Monday, Roscommon County deputies responded to a boating accident on Higgins Lake about a mile out from the west shore access.
Central Dispatch advised that two people had been thrown from the boat without lifejackets and likely had broken bones. Other boaters tried to help them but couldn’t get them onto their boat.
Marine Patrol headed to the scene, and a sergeant and deputy borrowed a pontoon boat. They found the two people and their damaged boat. Deputies said they got the victims out safely.
Roscommon County 911, Lyon Township Fire & EMS, Houghton Lake EMS and Markey Township Fire & EMS also provided aid.
