WEXFORD COUNTY — A trooper from the Michigan State Police Cadillac Post was sent to Walmart in Haring Township for a complaint of retail fraud, officials said Friday.
The store’s asset protection manager said she has been tracking an unidentified woman who has been “skip scanning” and walking out of the store, troopers said. Skip scanning occurs when the perpetrator scans most of the items in their cart but skip items in an effort to steal them.
As of this date, Walmart officials have confirmed the suspect has done this on five separate occasions, troopers said. It occurred July 24, Aug. 8, Aug. 9, Aug. 13 and Aug. 20.
Walmart provided surveillance images of the suspect, which we have attached to this article.
Anyone with information is asked to call the MSP Cadillac Post at (231) 779-6040.
