EMMET COUNTY — Michigan State Police said Monday that a jogger was killed by a hit-and-run driver while running along the shoulder of US-31.
The 48-year-old woman from Colorado was struck and killed as she was jogging on the shoulder of southbound US-31 near Luce Road, troopers said.
Troopers said she was hit by a black Dodge pickup truck, believed to be between a 2013 and 2017 model. The truck has front-end damage and the grill was located at the scene, troopers said.
Late Monday morning, troopers reported that a 25-year-old man from Cheboygan was in custody. They said the suspect vehicle was located at a local business in Emmet County and the driver arrested.
