Hastings woman identified, charged for deadly child abuse in Reed City

REED CITY — On Thursday, Savannah Miller from Hastings was arraigned on one count each of first-degree child abuse, second-degree child abuse, felony murder and second-degree murder. The Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the child involved in the abuse has died.

Court records show that Miller was charged for an incident where she was babysitting, assaulted a 4-month-old causing terminal injuries and did not seek medical care.

REED CITY — Early Sunday morning, Reed City Police and Osceola County EMS responded to reports of an unresponsive 4-month-old child at an apartment on West Franklin Avenue in Reed City.

Officers determined there was probable cause and arrested a 31-year-old woman from Hastings on charges of first-degree child abuse and aggravated assault.

This investigation is ongoing. More information will be released as it becomes available.
