Morsels owner gets up to 7 years for bathroom recordings at business

TRAVERSE CITY — The owner of Morsels, Edward Witkowski, was sentenced Friday to 4-7 years in prison for secretly recording women in his business’s bathroom.

TRAVERSE CITY — The owner of Morsels, Edward Witkowski, has pleaded no contest to his charges.

A no contest plea means he accepts the punishment but does not admit to the crime. Witkowski is accused of using hidden cameras to take inappropriate images of customers and lying to a police officer.

He is still under bond, and a sentencing date is to be determined.

TRAVERSE CITY — The owner of Morsels, Edward Witkowski, was arraigned in court on Wednesday. He’s charged with one count using a computer to commit a crime, three counts capturing an image of an unclothed person, and one count lying to a police officer.

Witkowski was also told during court that he can’t have access to a phone, internet or his business.

TRAVERSE CITY — The Traverse City Police Department on Friday said that a 49-year-old Traverse City man was arrested in connection with the search at Morsels.

On Nov. 9, Traverse City police arrested the man pursuant to a three-count felony arrest warrant.

The case remains open pending additional investigation, police said. No other suspects have been identified at this time.

TRAVERSE CITY — Traverse City Police say the two search warrants executed on Thursday were part of an investigation into illegal surveillance activities.

The first search was conducted at a home on the 100 block of N. Oak St. The second search was conducted at Morsels on E. Front St.

Officers say a suspect has been identified, but no arrests have been made yet.

Traverse City Police Department executes search warrant at downtown business

TRAVERSE CITY — The Traverse City Police Department is currently conducting two search warrants, one of which is at a local business in the 300 block of East Front Street, referencing an ongoing criminal investigation.

This business is currently closed to allow department members to conduct their investigation.

There are no safety concerns to the public and upon completion of the search warrant the business will be released to the owners.
