Directions
Place a slice of buttered bread on the inside of the pie iron. Take one of the slices of bread and add your favorite ingredients. Do not put anything on the other slice. Use cheese to your advantage – it helps keep the bread slices together. Close and lock the pie iron parts together. Cook over a hot campfire, turning occasionally – until the pie is hot and golden brown, about 4 minutes.
If you’re using a true cast-iron hobo pie maker, make sure to ‘re-season’ it. for more information.
