With the holiday season right around the corner, the distillers at in Traverse City are really getting into the holiday “spirits”.
In this week’s Brewvine, Whitney Amann and photojournalist Jeremy Erickson tell you how they are helping put the gin back in jingle bells.
“Our busiest season is really November, December are two of our largest sale seasons because number one it’s gift giving, number two it’s people getting together and they like to enjoy a cocktail along with a get together,” said owner Kent Rabish.
It’s the time of year when people are planning their holiday get-togethers and trying to find unique gift ideas.
says they can help with both.
“We do a lot of custom gift packages; I know last year we’ve done corporate packages where they want to give to employees, or customers and the nice thing is they’re not all pre-packaged,” he says. “You can walk through our store, pick out what you want; bottle, a glass to go with it, or mixers, we have a full line of products to complement the spirits so you can pretty much make a package of whatever you want.”
Whether your gift box is filled with their award winning whiskey, vodka, rum or gin…all of it was made right on Front Street.
“We are a grain to bottle distillery and I started this company with the whole idea, we want to do grain to bottle. We do not want to be a packaging firm, a bottling company. We’re real proud of the fact and that’s what we do hang our hat on, that everything here is made from local grain, wheat, rye, and corn. We now get malted barley and malted rye from Great Lakes Malting here in Traverse so our products, other than one product that I can’t get what we need, it’s all local,” said Rabish.
And if you are looking for a venue for your holiday party…
“We have a 2,500 square foot tasting room downtown Traverse City, on Front Street that we lease out. Private events, corporate, get-togethers, parties, family outings. It’s available. We can rent the whole building or basically about half of it,” he said.
But you don’t need a special occasion to sample some of their seasonal spirits.
“Down on Front Street, we’re changing our menu fairly quickly and we are going to have a lot of holiday cocktails.”
