BATTLE CREEK-- Traverse City St. Francis and Kalamazoo Christian met in Battle Creek today in the State Semi-Finals for Division 3.
The Comets beat the Glads last year in the title game, but St. Francis pulled out a five-set victory today in a thrilling back-and-forth game.
After the game we talked to head coach Kathleen Nance:
“We really wanted a rematch and, you know, the girls were ready for it. It’s just it’s so exciting that we got to have that here. We got to go five sets. I think it just shows how evenly matched our teams are. I’m just so proud. They had so much grit and so much fight. So that’s just where I’m at right now. Is happy and proud of them”
And as for the state championship game tomorrow...
“Volleyball is volleyball. It’s going to be a great game. We know St Mary’s is an amazing team. They have a history of being an amazing program. They have excellent ball control, but at the end of the day, so do we. I think it’s going to be a really good match” (Kathleen Nance).
The Gladiators are scheduled to take on Monroe St Mary Catholic Central tomorrow at 2:30p.m.
