REED CITY - The Boyne City Ramblers beat the Reed City Coyotes 34-21 on Friday to claim the school’s 2nd ever regional title, their first since 2014. The Ramblers were down 14-0 in the first half but scored 34 unanswered points to get the win. Owen Hewitt led the way with four touchdowns, and Ryan Spate added the 5th touchdown late in the 4th to secure the win.
Boyne City head coach David Suttle spoke after the game about just how special that win was.
“It’s great. I was here for the first one when we won it. There was actually 12 inches of snow on the ground that day. I told these kids at the beginning of the year, I actually had a few of the alumni from that team come back and talk to these kids because this group reminded me so much of that group. Not exactly the same, but very similar,” said Suttle.
Boyne City will now take on the winner of Saturday’s Lansing Catholic vs Newaygo game in the state semifinal.
