CADILLAC — The Cherry Grove Township Fire Department is reminding families to stay safe while trick-or-treating this Halloween.
Fire Chief Noah Knauf is urging drivers to stay alert for children who may dart into the street and encourages families to use glow sticks or flashlights to stay visible after dark.
He also cautions against wearing costumes that restrict breathing or vision.

“If parents are in question about candy, I would just throw it away,” Knauf said. “If it looks like it’s been tampered with, just throw it away. It does get dark early, and the main concern, really, for trick-or-treating is making sure our kids are taken care of.”
Trick-or-treating at downtown Cadillac businesses is scheduled for Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m.
