The Cadillac Salvation Army is making sure everyone in the area is able to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal.
Officer In Command, Captain Liz Bock said 250 Thanksgiving baskets will be distributed two days before the holiday to people in Wexford County at their Salvation Army location on Wright Street in Cadillac.
This year, they will also be giving away 150 baskets in Missaukee County at the Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Lake City.
The baskets will be filled with items needed to make a thanksgiving feast or you can attend a community meal at Temple Hill Baptist Church on Division Street from 11:30 am to 1 pm.
Bock said they are still looking for volunteers for prep, cooking, clean-up, and donations for the community dinner.
“We have the two options so that people can pick up a Thanksgiving basket because maybe they just can’t afford for their family, but they love to cook and come together as a family. So, we want to be able to provide that so that they can invite their family over and they can all share that day together. But we also have a community meal for those who may be lonely, or they don’t have a family to cook for or the means to,” said Bock.
The Thanksgiving baskets first come, first serve. They will be handed out from 9 am to 1 pm November 26th at both locations or until they run out.
