TRAVERSE CITY - This Saturday, get ready to do the monster mash through Traverse City. It’s the 16th year of the zombie 5k run, but the first year the Traverse City Track Club will be hosting it.
The money raised from the event goes towards the infrastructure of the TART Trail by maintaining or creating new trails. The race will begin and end at Right Brain Brewery. People of all ages and abilities are invited join in and are encouraged to dress up like a zombie. The event begins at 9 a.m. with prizes and a costume contest after the race. There are almost 800 zombies signed up for the event, and Traverse City Track Club Executive Director Lindsay McLaughlin is hoping more will join in.
“It’s fun to be able to use part of that, trail that, you know, tart did such a great job with. So we love it. And we love that this is more of a, fundraiser. It’s not like there’s competition involved. We do have age group awards and all of that, but a little different vibe,” she says.
