CLARE COUNTY – Clare County Central Dispatch received a call of a traffic crash on Sept. 24 at 4:33 a.m. at Townline Lake Road near Oak Grove Road in Harrison. The caller reported that an Auto Solutions wrecker was involved in the crash.
Deputies with the Clare County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene, and they said they found the wrecker off the roadway in Budd Lake.
An investigation found that the wrecker driver had been traveling west on Townline Lake Road and failed to negotiate the curves in the roadway, crossed the center line and ran off the south side of the roadway and crashed into some trees. The vehicle continued on and struck a Monark pontoon boat docked in Budd Lake, then came to a rest in the lake, deputies said.
Emergency Management Director Jerry Becker was contacted for any possible contamination caused to the lake from the wrecker entering the water.
Speed appears to be a factor in the crash, deputies said, but the crash is still under investigation.
The driver of the wrecker was not injured, deputies said.
