KINGSLEY- Work was done on Kingsley’s football field goal posts late Thursday night to get them up to the MHSAA standard prior to their District Final game against Traverse City St. Francis tonight.
In a statement made to 9&10 News, Kingsley Athletic Director Mitch Miggenburg said of the situation:
“A parent complaint was made to the MHSAA regarding the size of our goalposts. We have taken measures to rectify that situation and our Kingsley High School is ready to host the Division 6 Championship tonight”.
UPDATE: Kingsley defeated St. Francis 57-6 to advance. The MHSAA commented to 9&10 News that the goal post modifications were not required and that the game would have been played as normal regardless. High school games have been played on college fields before, and Kingsley’s college-sized goal posts did not provide either team with a competitive advantage, though they claimed it may have been a conversation had after the season concluded.
